Native Summary[edit]

Centred around Santa Francesca (the largest island of Roperia and the hub of most activity in Roperia), the Roperian Sea is a heavily polluted body of water centred around the largest Roperian island of Santa Francesca and populated by several outlying islands throughout the Sea. A complete opposite of the clean, serene and peaceful Farovian Sea, the Roperian Sea is marked by being the haven of chaos and corruption thanks to Danzic's rule and policies. They have led to the heavy and dense urbanization of Santa Francesca, rapidly destroying the ecological system and the environment of the city and its waters. The rising industrialization to fuel Santa Francesca has led to the gradual, but accelerating decline and devastation of the outlying islands in the Roperian Sea by highly corrupt corporations and industries along with even more corrupt bureaucrats and paid-off politicians. This situation has deeply troubled and hurt the Spirit Of The Sea, making her desperate to find someone to heal the dirty water and barren land, restoring the region of Roperia.

People newly moving here from Farovia will immediately notice the crumbling city of Santa Francesca being home to plenty of lowlifes, from pests to petty thieves to corrupt bureaucrats; alongside resides an apathetic and uncaring population throughout the area who treat the dirty and filthy life as their own even as they suffer the significantly worse conditions while making their ends meet under Danzic's rule. While the outlying islands fare a bit better, the devastation continues to ravage the Sea and the entire region of Roperia. Familiarity is found in the 'Wave Bar & Grill' restaurant, owned by Ruby Mae (the wife of Earl's half-brother Franken, lost long ago and now mutated from the effects of Asteroid Reef) that continues to serve people with delicious dishes throughout the region of Roperia using the help of Wranglers who fish either for themselves or, sympathetic to the Spirit's plight, cleaning up the entire region as the Spirit watches over them and keeps them safe from Danzic's wrath.

Geography[edit]

The Roperian Sea encompasses a variety of islands that make up the entire region.

Islands[edit]

Santa Francesca[edit]

Santa Francesca is characterized by being the typical urban area: heavily crowded, filled with highly apathetic citizens, low-life criminals and corrupt politicians. Those issues along with heavily untreated sewage and widespread ecological destruction has caused a heavily-declining eco-system with a dying fish population and a barren land. Apathetic citizens go about their daily work and lives, from those sick with lack of treatment (and love) to failed heroes, suave charmers and corner-workers. Thanks to the corruption caused by Danzic, plenty of lowlifes roam the streets as well, from pests that are simply a nuisance to low-end, dark alley criminals, high-rolling corrupt corporate executives, white-collared bureaucrats, pay-rolled politicians and even assassins.

Wranglers will be employed by the Spirit Of The Sea to learn new skills and fish throughout the city to clean up the heart of all the corruption in Roperia. A familiar sense of beginnings will ensure a sense of direction for Wranglers as they fondly reminisce about their humble beginnings in the town of Waterport while surviving the mean streets of Santa Francesca with vigilance and cleaning them up. Wranglers will start off by learning the Filtration 101, taught by Earl's generous self when he directs Wranglers to Roperia. Earl will also very generously provide Wranglers with 900 Silver Roples (the Roperian currency in circulation), enough to purchase the Crapolé and/or the Floral Standard alongside enough Grub Chum for Wranglers to start their fishing adventure in Santa Francesca (and throughout Roperia).

New Seinborough[edit]

Situated around 5.5 nautical miles out of Santa Francesca, New Seinborough is a little fishing village that appears familiar to those journeying from Farovia; for it is similar to Fishertonville. While it is just another village that's geared towards the fishing community (and with much cleaner waters to help both the populations and quality of fish), the area is known for it's magical and mythical qualities along with the dangers lurking throughout, starting with a highly perilous journey to the island itself and continuing the trend of re-habilitating the eco-system that's gradually getting dangerously close to irreversible damage from the disastrous workings of neighbouring islands.

Wranglers will have to begin the journey by proving themselves to the Spirit as explained on the Moving on from Santa Francesca and Reaching New Seinborough pages. Once they learn the Art Of Mysticism to better understand the mystical history of the village and prove themselves capable of handling the Pallet Raft, they will be granted access to the island of New Seinborough to continue the mission of the Spirit by taming the magical and mythical fish and being another step closer to restoring the ecological balance of the Roperian Sea. The endeavour is bound to test the resolve of even the toughest Wrangler, preparing them for the adventures - and dangers - that lie ahead.

Redwood Crescent[edit]

A relatively large island noted for its vastly spread forests of redwood trees and a diverse wildlife to match, Redwood Crescent is now a barren land unlike the lush Farovian volcanic island of Blue Crescent. The once-lush island provided plenty of natural resources to not just inhabitants of Redwood Crescent but all nearby islands as well, with a thriving yet sustainable logging industry. Eventually, the growth of the population and the expansion of Santa Francesca barely 3.9 nautical miles away led to the logging industry accelerating its efforts and destroying the entire forest along with most of its wildlife. For years, no trees have been seen by anyone and finding wildlife has become an extremely rare sight; all that remain of what once was almost a natural preserve are the shallow valleys filled with heavily degraded coral reefs surrounding the vicinity of the island that make travel hazardous for inexperienced navigators.

After restoring the magical, yet devastated ecology of New Seinborough, the Spirit will guide Wranglers to Redwood Crescent, as explained on the Moving on from New Seinborough and Getting to Redwood Crescent pages. Wranglers will start by learning the Intro to Reef Cleaning course, coming to understand the history of Redwood Crescent and the skills to clean up the destroyed coral reefs surrounding it. The reefs, being dangerous enough for the fragile Pallet Raft, will require Wranglers to also purchase the Cabin Cruiser, having the strong hull to withstand the dangerous conditions. Guided by the Spirit, Wranglers will work towards restoring the once-flourishing ecology of Redwood Crescent and get one step closer to helping the Spirit repair the damage caused to the Roperian Sea.

Asteroid Reef[edit]

Once a part of the south-eastern corner of Redwood Crescent, everything changed once an asteroid smashed into it at high speeds into the surrounding coral reefs. The Roperian Institute of Applied Astrology and Intergalactic Reason detected the asteroid impact along with large amounts of radiation in the reef (confirmed by Earl's mutated cousin Franken), leading it to be named as the Asteroid Reef. The asteroid was named '5025 Phonea' due to Victor Danzic, one of Dictator Danzic's childhood apprentices, discovering the asteroid's relation to the Phonea fish along with Earl's cousin Don naming it '5025' in reference to his self-proclaimed old address in Redwood Crescent that was obliterated from the asteroid impact. Discovering the asteroid itself to be highly radioactive, the first explorers and researchers developed the Radiation Suit for further investigation of the reef.

The heavy irradiation and and widespread ecological destruction from the asteroid's impact hurt the Spirit significantly, leading her to request brave Wranglers to come forth and help her clean up the Asteroid Reef. After proving themselves capable of being able to handle the hazards of the irradiated reef as explained on the Moving on from Redwood Crescent and Getting to Asteroid Reef pages, Wranglers will be required to Master Nuclear Physics and become proficient at handling the radioactivity. To survive, they will also be required to purchase the Radiation Suit and use their durable Cabin Cruiser to travel to the area and start their efforts at cleaning it up to restore the area back to its vibrant self. Many wranglers will find familiarity with the situation due to Asteroid Reef being a hazardous area carved out from Redwood Crescent by a natural disaster similar to the Magma Reef being carved out of the Blue Crescent volcano's explosion and the resulting eruption.

Helvetica[edit]

A region of expansive philosophy and refined intellect, Helvetica used to be the epitome of the melding between the Greek and Roman cultures. From the methods and expansiveness of the Greco-Roman militaries to the philosophical depth of Greece and Rome along with the great mythical beings from the Greco-Roman pasts, Helvetica was a rich centre of culture and knowledge before eventually sinking to the depths of the sea and being lost to time. To this day, the actual mythologies and legends are believed to still living in these ocean depths by the population of Roperia, leading many-a-Wrangler to go scuba-diving in these depths familiar to them due to the similarity to Farovia's Sans Culpra.

The Spirit, troubled by the existence of the fire-flying, dragon-like Typhoeus that lives in the darkest dungeons of Helvetica, requests help from Wranglers in taming the mythical fish. After proving themselves as listed on the Moving on from Asteroid Reef and Accessing Helvetica pages, Wranglers must learn the Mythology Of Roperia to master their understanding of Helvetica and prepare themselves for the dangers ahead. Wranglers will also be required to purchase the high-tech Roperian Scuba Bag for diving in the ocean to explore, along with the Legionnaires' Lance (a pole inspired by the combined might of the Roman Legionaries along with the lances used in the Greco phalanx systems) to battle and survive the mythical fish in the Helvetican depths.

Progression[edit]

Having restored the ecology of the Roperian Sea and preventing the imminent destruction of the heart of Roperia, the Spirit Of The Sea informs Wranglers of other areas throughout Roperia requiring significant attention to be cleaned up and restored. As multiple new areas become available to them (being in various states of accessibility), Wranglers will find a highly non-linear path throughout their journey and with the help of the Spirit, they will be able to choose their own way to progress through Roperia.

Available Areas[edit]

  • The previously unseen Backside Of Icelantica.
  • The heavily polluted and utterly destroyed Roperian Garbage Patch, requiring progression through the Icelantican Backside.
  • The weapon testing facilities of Mount Promontory, the counterpart to Farovia's Geminisles.
  • The continent of Zybrelia encompassing the Nizon, Dodge and Declination Rivers.
  • The continent of Medievalton close to the Dodge River of Zybrelia.
  • The Mermaid Cove.
  • The continent of Terranea, requiring progression through the Mermaid Cove.
