Hi Joe, I added it to the "real name" part of the profile. Hope that works. Kevin and I also contributed a ton of stuff on the old wikia. 😸Miyuki (talk) 18:42, 25 March 2021 (UTC)

thanks for all the help here! I just made you an administrator, i believe you should be able to block people.. i'll try to make new user accts harder to make, as some bots got around current one.. https://wiki.fishwrangler.com/index.php?title=Special:Block -Joe

Wiki Forum pages[edit]

I have been thinking about removing the entire Forum pages and all of its subsections. Simply seems redundant. But I want your feedback and opinions before I do this. The tables on the main heading Forum pages in this new wiki are broken and do not find worth trying to fix that currently since have been thinking about removing these pages for a long time now. So will use the old wiki links to this when referencing. So the Forum:Index page https://fishwrangler.fandom.com/wiki/Forum:Index which lists all the Forum subsections. On that index page is really only 3 subheading sections, appears other 2 were not enabled, created or used.

The first Forum:Help Desk https://fishwrangler.fandom.com/wiki/Forum:Help_desk which is a subheading page intended for use as dual purpose of the ingame Forums / Discussions. In other words a redundant section of the ingame forms, except to be used here in wiki. Imho this was fine back in the day when Wiki had more active users and knowledgeable users that took the time and effort to answer these questions. But that has not really been done for a very long time now since wiki activity diminished. Imho again this just seems redundant now and simply see no need for this. I especially think this subheading should be removed as players can simply use the ingame forums for this from more active area with actual responses. By the time anyone notices these here in Wiki since no one really monitors this here that well, they are so old. And again just seems redundant to me with no current purpose anymore.

The second Forum:Watercooler https://fishwrangler.fandom.com/wiki/Forum:Watercooler which was intended to be used solely for help and discussions of actual Wiki itself. But looking at list of pages there, I DO see some that are actually done for this as intended appropriately. Such as Saving New Pages :) and Editors Please Read - Admin & Bureaucratic Rights and Looking to train new FW moderators + develop chat. However a majority of it simply has been abused by players unknowledgeable with Wiki using this as another Forums / Discussion area. Instead of the appropriate Forum:Help Desk. So IF I remove that Forum:Help Desk section as I suggested above, just see this continuing to happen if not worse since will not be that section anymore for players to find. Just again do not see a need for this mostly due to such low player activity here in Wiki and again no one really monitors this due to that low editor activity. PLUS each page already has its own 'Discussions' page so again imho just seems redundant for most part. IF it were used appropriately and someone took time to monitor this and keep it updated, that would be fine. But realistically just do not see that happening. So think it should be simply removed.

The third is Forum:Discussion https://fishwrangler.fandom.com/wiki/Forum:Discussion intended to discuss new content. But looking at this and it has been rarely ever used. Likely because there was never any direct link from FW Wiki main home page, unlike the other 2 sections above which do have direct links. I propose the intent and title needs to be changed. Which leads to what I have been thinking to clean up this entire Forum area as well as main home page.....

Imho, I propose and think we should get rid of by deleting the entire old Forum wiki areas as well as clean up the main home page. On main Home Page, getting rid of the section "Forums" and both linked Help Desk and Watercooler. Instead use the "Community" section to list "Forums" like I have already done, and then create a Wiki page of that to give brief description in Wiki what it is as well as a link to ingame Forums. No longer need a duplicated area to be found ingame and in Wiki. Also under that "Community" adding a new Wiki Discussions area intended to solely be used to discuss wiki pages and all other wiki related issues and problems. Can then actually put this Wiki Discussions page(s) named as Forum:Wiki_Discussions so that all related topics will be created under that main heading. Can even input a create box that will automatically create the page correctly to be named as such under Forum:<createpage> that any editors input into that box field. Ideally would also like to have all actual Discussion pages linked and generated here as well, but not sure I will be able to go that far. So that would be a possible later thing or not. Thoughts? Hi Kevin, that is fine with me. I don't think I ever used those forum pages, preferring to go to the talk pages for specific articles as with regular Wikipedia. So as long as we still have talk pages, then we can use that for specific technical details. As for Fandom, it's up to you all how much longer you want to keep that around. I'll continue to work on efforts here in the meantime. 😸Miyuki (talk) 20:33, 3 April 2021 (UTC)
Ha ha, no for Fandom. I am done with that old wiki. It will stay around but just become outdated. It has a note as such on the main page as well as link to new one here. I was talking about the pages here in this new Wiki. I only used the links to Fandom as the corresponding pages here, the tables are broken so does not show the list of all the pages under those headings. Like for example Forum:Index shows the text description, but the table below that is empty with a lot of broken code being displayed above the table header. So it does not show all the 5 subheadings under it. Just thought that would make it easier to follow if you wanted to have an actual look at pages being able to see tables filled. And yes, I prefer to use each individual pages talk page as well for the most part. Joe wanted to delete one of them though (Island talk page) :P as apparently when you click on Random Page in the left side bar, it can pull up just a talk discussion page and Joe thought that was simply some unneeded page and did not realize that it was linked to its actual Island article page lol. Blurred images[edit]

Ever since Breakfast Bay, Joe has changed how he does the blurred images ingame. Thank fully so far this only appears to be for the poles and their addons, and not the fish. Instead of having a separate file like he used too, that now appears to be coded inside the browser. For example he used to upload the blurred images into the game in a separate location, such as this pole addon image which can be found here [1] Now however, Joe is no longer uploading that but only uploading the original un-blurred image and then having the browser automatically blur it instead if that has not been unblocked. So changing that link above to 366 no longer works, since Joe has never uploaded that anymore. Instead it appears that Joe is simply changing the code where IF you have it unlocked it is class equals brdr
<img class="brdr" src="https://fish-wrangler.com/images/v2/feed/addon/366-ceramic-mug.jpg" style="max-width:150px">
but when not unlocked it is class equals blur
<img class="blur" src="https://fish-wrangler.com/images/v2/feed/addon/366-ceramic-mug.jpg" style="max-width:150px">
Anyway, saving that image like normal always resorts to saving it with no blur effect regardless whether you have it unlocked or not, since the actual source page is just the uploaded original image with no blur effect (again now done inside your browser after the image is retrieved). I have also tried to simply add "-hidden" to that image location link too, but of course that did not work. So I have not uploaded any addon images since Sipper pole. As I am not sure how to handle this anymore. The only thing I can think of is to save those image files and then edit them by adding a Gaussian Blur effect to it. Saving that edit and than uploading that image. You can see what I have done on the Sipper pole page since I have done this to the first couple of addon images. It would be great if I really knew coding because we could just simply do the same thing here in Wiki I would guess ... but I do not know how to do that LOL. So what do you think? And do you have any suggestions? Kevin "Hawk" Fisher (talk) 08:22, 31 July 2021 (UTC)

Hi Kevin, are you looking for how to add the blur effect? You can try to create some code page with the img class blur effect and then screen capture the blurred picture. If it's a pole you've done already, ask a FW buddy who hasn't reached it yet to screen cap it. 😸Miyuki (talk) 04:17, 10 August 2021 (UTC)
Asking a FW buddy will not do any good because in both cases it is using the exact same stock image. There is only one image (as far as I can tell) that Joe is now uploading to the game. The clean unblurred one. The game then deciphers how far the player has then progressed to decide which image class to assign. I physically watched that image and the code before and after doing the addon purchase. Clicking on the image prior it was https://fish-wrangler.com/images/v2/feed/addon/366-ceramic-mug.jpg and clicking on it after the purchase and it was still https://fish-wrangler.com/images/v2/feed/addon/366-ceramic-mug.jpg. Nothing changed except how it was coded in the game via the img class function. You can do this yourself by simply going to any pole that you have not purchased the addon for yet. Then doing right click and selecting 'copy image location' and then inputting that location into your browser OR simply selecting 'save image as' (which is how I used to do this to upload into wiki) and it will show you the image of it being not blurred. Even though ingame you have not purchased it yet. So yes I am looking for a way on how to create some code page that automatically assigns a blur effect. The way I am having to resort to doing it now is to open and manually editing each and every image by adding a blur effect to it. You can see this for that example addon in the File History for that image that I uploaded for File:366-ceramic-mug.jpg. Simply click on this image to see all four versions that I uploaded after manually editing to create more blur to each. The final being with the most blur added. If we are not able to figure out how to create some code, although not ideal, do you think manually doing it this way is acceptable? Thankfully since so far it is not the Fish, that is only a few images per release.

Manual blur is fine. I was thinking to screen cap the blurred picture from a non-FW or "Buddy FW" but if you already figured out how to apply the blur effect, then that works and is good enough for the purposes of the wiki. If any of the FW staff know how to do that for the Wiki then that would be good. We don't need the smart code that determines whether someone has unlocked it or not. 😸Miyuki (talk) 03:40, 17 August 2021 (UTC)
Kevin, you can try the code out from something like this: https://www.geeksforgeeks.org/convert-an-image-into-blur-using-html-css/ Replace with your desired file you want to blur and tweak the settings, then you can screencap it. 😸Miyuki (talk) 23:01, 19 August 2021 (UTC)
Actually the fish pictures have this slider thingy where you can see its outline picture and can slide it to the clean picture? I assume it involves two different files? This is assuming you actually caught the fish then you get the clean picture and can slide over to the outliney picture. 😸Miyuki (talk) 23:20, 12 August 2021 (UTC)
Yea I have been meaning to go see how he did it with that slider, just have not gotten to that location yet nor bothered to actually go hunt for it yet. I am guessing that Joe actually uploaded both images, they are Afaik just the fish images only that this has been done for, which so far again Afaik Joe has not changed how he uploads the fish images into the game. He seems to be uploading both the blurred and not blurred images for all the fish images. But meh I could be wrong and need to go actually look at how. La Terranea release date[edit]

I recorded Apr 9th as the release date. However I notice you have put Apr 8th on a few pages. I am half a day ahead, so I could easily be wrong. Think I got that from the news header though, which again could have been edited by Joe a day later to change the date in news header and I missed it originally. Anyway just checking with you on how sure you are of the release date. Not that one day will really make much difference, but just so that Wiki is consistent. Kevin "Hawk" Fisher (talk) 10:08, 25 April 2022 (UTC)

Hi Kevin, good question, I was able to access stuff on April 9th (US Pacific time), and back then it said the poles were released 3 hours ago. So I am OK with calling it the 9th. 😸Miyuki (talk) 23:19, 25 April 2022 (UTC)
There were messages on the forum saying that the 8th was the first time people could start working on getting pieces and stuff for the new area, but that there was a 23 hour delay for the Scepter/Gondola to build up, which meant no one could technically reach the island until the 9th. 😸Miyuki (talk) 00:33, 26 April 2022 (UTC)

Error creating thumbnail[edit]

I finally got around to asking Joe to look into this. This has been fixed once again. Unknown if it was due to the same issue as last time or not. But Joe has finally moved Wiki over to the new IP address FW instead of F-W and apparently fixed this issue. I got no reply back about this specifically but I am able to upload these images fine again so it has been fixed. I do know Joe was recently looking around Wiki because he brought to my attn one of the old Fandom codes on the Boat page that no longer works in MediaWiki, asking me what it was. Hopefully we will not see this issue again, but if so we will need to address it to Joe once again. Quicker than I did this time :P Kevin "Hawk" Fisher (talk) 06:47, 8 May 2022 (UTC)

That's great. Thanks Kevin! 😸Miyuki (talk) 16:01, 9 May 2022 (UTC)
