Broken Standard (Quests)
Below is a list of the quests available for the Broken Standard. Before starting on these quests, it is advised to have learned the skill of Art of Night Fishing.
Broken Standard Quests[edit]
It is suggested you only complete the first two Broken Standard quests and hold off on the remainder until you've unlocked other areas in the game like Icelantica. After leveling the poles and starting some of the first few quests over there, should you return to work on the later WaterPort quests. If you cast less than 30 times per day, any quest above the second could take a month or longer to complete. Even with tournament fishing to level poles, if you don't keep up to date with the quests, you'll be blocked from new addons for those poles.
As with all quests completed in Waterport, using repellants will slightly increase your chances of catching the quest fish. Boo Juice along with K9 Pheromone will eliminate the Miny Fish and Catty Fish when in use. Antifreeze Protein will work too, but is better saved for Fishertonville where the Cubey Fish exists but the other 2 prior fish do not.
Carpe Sliders[edit]
- Difficulty: 1/10
- Description: Delicious and juicy fish burgers, like the ones from White Water Castle. Served on top of a lightly toasted loafy bun.
- Pole Requirements: Level 1 Broken Standard
- Unlocks: Fixed Reel
- Quest specific tips: Start with Loaf Chum and stay with it until all the Loafy Fish are caught. Switch afterward to your best chum. Some of the next strategies depend on using resources or having access & traveling to other locations. You can move to Fishertonville to finish any Loafy Fish and Cubey Fish you have left, as there's only 3 fish catchable there with any WaterPort poles. If you finish the Cubey Fish, you can also use it's repellent. Also surface fishing in SC (Sans Culpra) can help to finish off any remaining fish. If you have access, you can go there after the Loafies are caught - otherwise, stay in WaterPort.
Like any quest, try not to use a chum that is preferred by a fish you don't want for that quest's pole. Using repellents can improve odds of catching the required quest fish (this won't work in areas like SC's surface & Sigs) like K9 Pheromone or a combine it with another, like Boo Juice or Antifreeze Protein, if either all the Miny Fish and Cubey Fish are already caught. This is done to avoid travel & avoid any extra fish, but it use resources & may cost shells.
- Catch Requirements: 9 Miny Fish, 5 Loafy Fish, 5 Cubey Fish ×1.5 when done with friend
Fish Sticks[edit]
- Difficulty: 4/10
- Description: Crunchy fish sticks coated in seasoned bread crumbs.
- Pole Requirements: Level 11 Broken Standard
- Unlocks: Fixed Pole
- Quest specific tips: Using your best chum, try using repellents, such as K9 Pheromone plus Antifreeze Protein until you have caught all the Miss Miny Fish. After deactivate one, and use Boo Juice. In the unlikely event that you catch the Cornucopia Fish before the Mime Fish are caught, stop if your using love chum. If you still have Hippie Fish left, they can be quickly finished using Hippie attractants (Munchies) or traveling to Fishertonville.
Old strategies used: Another tactic for completing the Hippie Fish quota is to move up to Blue Crescent, where the only fish available with Broken Standard will be the Hippie Fish. The pole will likely break with each catch, but the cost of repairing it will be covered by the gold reward of the Hippie Fish, just note that the number of missed casts will be high.
- Catch Requirements: 15 Hippie Fish, 10 Miss Miny Fish, 6 Mime Fish, 2 Cornucopia Fish ×1.5 when done with friend
Escapist Filet[edit]
- Difficulty: 8/10
- Description: Tender piece of mouth-watering houdini fish with a thick baja sauce from Chipotle Farovia.
- Pole Requirements: Level 50 Broken Standard
- Unlocks: Rump Roast
- Quest specific tips: Using Steak, fish until you get ALL the Vampire Fish. After, switch to your best chum then fish until you have caught all the Cornucopia Fish and Houdini Fish. To finish the remaining Ninja Fish use a Dojo Mojo to attract the Ninja Fish with your best chum. This quest may take 500+ casts to finish. (Note: Augmenting your pole adds new fish, which slightly reduces the odds of catching the fish in quests 1-3. Try to finish it before Lv 54 when the Duct Tape Eel Fish may start stealing your chum) Vampire Fish can be caught anywhere between 12-1 in Farovian waters.
- Catch Requirements: 4 Houdini Fish, 5 Ninja Fish, 10 Vampire Fish, 10 Cornucopia Fish ×1.5 when done with friend
Stumbling Pie[edit]
- Difficulty: 10/10
- Description: Spiked apple crumble pie in a graham cracker crust.
- Pole Requirements: Level 70 Broken Standard
- Rewards: 2 Liquid Gold first time, 1 Liquid Gold afterwards
- Quest specific tips: Start with Fish Guts, the preferred chum for the Mechanic (the likely quest "bottleneck" fish). Love chum gives a 25% benefit for catching the "top 4" rarest fish
and is the preferred chum for the Wanderer Fish. Use Liquid Gold for help catching remaining Mechanics or the Wanderer. Using repellents such as Boo Juice, K9 Pheromone and Antifreeze Protein (AP) will block out 2-3 of Fairly Prolific fishes and let you catch the rarer fishes easier. This method may be costly in the long run, and won't guarantee quick success (Note: you can only use two at any time). Thus, it may be advisable to only use some, or no resources at all, according to your budget. Boo Juice is best choice, blocking two fish at a cost of 10 shells. (K9 cost 15 shells, 5 cheaper than AP. AP should probably be saved for the Cubies in Fishertonville.) - Catch Requirements: 20 Duct Tape Eel Fish, 15 Shard Fish, 15 Mechanic Fish, 1 Wanderer Fish ×1.5 when done with friend
FW TRIVIA - This quest used to have this description: Cheap apple pie spiked with old rum - on sale everyday!
Multi-pole quests[edit]
WaterPort[edit]
- For the location, see WaterPort.
SUPER BONUS QUEST!
(Difficulty: 20/10)
The Super Bonus Quest of Waterport requires Farovian Wranglers to catch an unholy number of the rarest fish in town! Not for beginners.
Pole Req: Level 80 Broken Standard
, Level 80 Oak Branch , Level 80 Fancy Rifle-Pole
Rewards: 70 Free Love Chum (first time only), 2 Liquid Gold, 5 Mystery Tackle Boxes
Quest specific tips: In order to start this quest, you must have completed the quest sets for the Oak Branch, Broken Standard and the Fancy Rifle-Pole. This quest is VERY hard, and not recommended for the faint of heart. To make best use of the quest bonus, start with the Oak Branch until you catch all the Blossoms, then switch to the Broken Standard for the Mechanics using Fish Guts or Red Love Chum, then switch to the Fancy Rifle-Pole to finish off the Sniper and Marshalls. If shells aren't a issue, keep running Boo Juice with Antifreeze Protein. If it's tight, just use some Boo Juice & some K9 waiting until you have a maximum Quest boost first. This quest can take up to 22,000+ casts.
Another option is to unlock WaterPier and progress through the different stealth poles in that same order. You will still have to switch over and complete the related stealth quest if you are still needing to unlock the next stealth pole or area.
Starting Requirements: 50,000 Gold, 15 Boo Juice, and 5 Dojo Mojo
Special Quests require various resources to start because BetsyLou's new boyfriend on the side is an aspiring wrangler and needs some help getting started with gold and a variety of other delightful resources!
Catch Req's: 95 Blossom Fish, 42 Mechanic Fish, 27 Sniper Fish, 8 Marshall Fish ×1.5 when done with friend
Thanksgiving Feast[edit]
(Difficulty: 5/10)
Happy Thanksgiving, enjoy this multi-region, multi-pole quest!
Pole Req: Level 25 Broken Standard
, Level 85 Great Equalizer , Level 85 Kolenya
Rewards: 28 Free Love Chum
Quest specific tips: If going for the boost, the first two fish should be finished in Waterport first with the Broken Standard pole, while the other two can be caught in Amadahy Plains with the Kolenya and/or Great Equalizer. For multi-region quests, you must activate this quest the first time you switch from one region to another region (Farovia <-> Roperia) as the game can not auto-equip for the poles in the other region that was never activated for those poles the first time you travel there. Alternatively, you could catch the other fish first and accumulate the LG to catch the Super Spud Fish later. This quest contains 41 fish ranging from Very Rare to Threatened.
Notes: This quest was released on Thanksgiving 2013 weekend, and contains a One-Day Fish, the Super Spud Fish. As such, it is partially or seasonally retired due to the fact you need to harness 15 LG in order to catch this fish now (or 11 LG each if fishing with a friend). Also, start the quest in Roperia if you want to use Silver instead of Gold for the requirements.
Starting Requirements: 5,000 Gold or Silver, 5 Chilli Sauce, and 3 Munchie
Special Quests require various resources to start because BetsyLou's new boyfriend on the side is an aspiring wrangler and needs some help getting started with gold and a variety of other delightful resources!
Catch Req's: 15 Super Spud Fish, 12 Cornucopia Fish, 9 Turkey Puffer Fish, 5 Cob Fish ×1.5 when done with friend
