Note there are no scaled difficulty levels. They are replaced by some descriptions. There are 8 Marigold Rod Dishes.

Marigold Rod Quests

Pan de Muerto

• Difficulty: Welcome Home
  
• Description: Baked the night before so it is out on the table when the first of them comes up the road. The galley makes two more than the count, every year, without discussing it. The two always go.

Copal Smoked Ribs

• Difficulty: Copal Mile
  
• Description: Hung in the censer smoke until the resin has gone all the way through. It takes a night. The smell carries a good deal further than the road does.

Sugar Skull Sorbet

• Difficulty: Candle Watch
  
• Description: Pressed in a mold with a name piped across the front, the way the calaveras are made. It goes soft in your hand while you are still reading it.

Papel Picado Pasta

• Difficulty: Paper Toll
  
• Description: Sheets cut by hand with the pattern going all the way through, so the sauce shows in the gaps. Cutting takes longer than the sauce does. That is understood to be the point.

Cempasuchil Consomme

• Difficulty: Long Vigil
  
• Description: Clear broth with the petals set on top in a line, because the line is what they follow home. Do not stir it. The galley will tell you once.

Ferryman Tamales

• Difficulty: Last Crossing
  
• Description: Wrapped in pairs and handed over two at a time, because the crossing is not a thing anyone does alone. Nobody in the galley has ever explained who the second one is for.

Obsidian Mole

• Difficulty: Obsidian Grind
  
• Description: Ground on a volcanic glass slab for four hours, which is three hours longer than any cook will admit to. It comes out black enough to see yourself in. Nobody looks.

Ofrenda Tres Leches

• Difficulty: Ofrenda Night
  
• Description: Three milks, poured by three different hands, and the galley will not let one person do all three. It sits out overnight where anyone can reach it. In the morning there is always less than three people could eat.
