The story of Asteroid Belt[edit]

There are 15 chapters for the story.

Asteroid Belt was released on July 10, 2023 with PlanetVenus, PlanetEarth, and PlanetMars as starting points for the first jump.

Six more areas - PlanetMercury, PlanetJupiter, PlanetSaturn, PlanetUranus, PlanetNeptune, DwarfPlanetPluto - were released on July 19, 2023.

Chapter #1: The Unlikely Agent[edit]

Go to Asteroid Reef in Roperia.

At the quiet location of Asteroid Reef, Deb, a local shark wrangler with a side job in dental hygiene, tests her luck fishing in a mysteriously secluded part of the reef. Her lure sends tiny waves scattering, disrupting the calmness of the water. A sudden tug on her line excites her but also alerts the attention of covert special agents, Johnson and Smith. Mistaking Deb for their clandestine contact, they approach her, unwittingly revealing details about a galactic menace - a destructive alien fish causing chaos on the planet islands formed from an ancient asteroid collision. They entrust Deb with the task of preserving the planets, unintentionally recruiting her as a secret agent. Overwhelmed yet resolute, Deb agrees to take up the challenge.

Chapter #2: The Induction[edit]

At Asteroid reef, select: Go to UGA HQ.

On arriving at the UGA HQ, they ask, “Have you completed the 'Interstellar Navigation' course during your studies at Santa Francesca University?”

  • Waste of Time! Firmly assert that you've already completed the course and a refresher isn't necessary.
  •  Take Refresher! Politely suggest that a refresher might be a good idea. Add, “I mean, you wouldn't want to accidentally make Jelly a jam, would you?”
  •  Wrong Deb! Deadpan, declare, “I think there's an interstellar identity mix-up. I'm actually an aspiring Shark Wrangler, not this Dr. Deb you speak of.”

Having just laid eyes on the sleek, rocket-shaped Blubber Burner boat, I'm beyond impressed. Its cool design and state-of-the-art features are seriously awesome. Hustle over to the UGA HQ to purchase the brand new Blubber Burner boat!

Journal entry:

Deb gets introduced into the secretive headquarters of the United Galaxy Association (UGA), a place teeming with bizarre gadgets and celestial maps. There, she meets Jelly Johnson, the in-house genius with arms too petite for fishing but possessing a mind capable of mastering it. Deb undergoes rigorous training sessions, learning interstellar navigation to mastering futuristic fishing gear. After numerous mishaps with the fishing lines and breaking a handful of high-tech rods, Jelly gifts her access to the Cosmic Caster. Appreciative and bemused, Deb thanks Jelly and pledges to utilize it effectively.

Chapter #3: A Matter of Order[edit]

Purchase the Blubber Burner boat.

Success Spent xxx,xxx silver, purchased a new boat: Blubber Burner! I had xxx silver, now have xxx. Next Step: The Blubber Burner is yours! Now, don't just float there like space debris. Snag the Cosmic Caster, and start fishing in the stars. The Asteroid Belt fish won't catch themselves!

Purchase the Cosmic Caster pole.

Purchased the Cosmic Caster!  Spent x,xxx, xxx silver, Purchased the Cosmic Caster! (Had xxx silver, have xxx) Starting off at level 10! Next: With the “Cosmic Caster”, a holographic display pops up and Jelly introduces the 'Jump Number'. This number represents your planetary moves. Every jump ups the ante by making the fish harder to tackle - it adds +10 to the pole levels of the fish at your new location.

Journal entry:

Armed with her Cosmic Caster pole and Blubber Burner boat, Deb learns the rules of her cosmic mission from Jelly. “Your Jump Number rises each time you select a new planet to visit. But here's the catch: Once you've jumped to a planet, you're there until you reel in its Planet Boss Fish, the toughest fish around.” Jelly adds, “Remember, it's more than just fishing, Deb. It's about choosing your path wisely. A fish that's easy to hook on your first planet might be quite the fighter on a later one.” He then unveils the gravity of their expedition, “Our mission is more than fishing, Deb. Our task is to bring balance back to the Asteroid Belt. The Sun Boss Fish, once the radiant ruler of these regions, has fallen into a dark mood, causing a cosmic cold snap across Roperia. Life on our beloved home planet has been thrown into turmoil - the warmth we took for granted has become a luxury, and if we don't act, it'll become a memory.” Jelly's revelation brings clarity and purpose to their endeavor. It was not merely about casting the line, but about casting it in the correct sequence, restoring the warmth to their home and saving the galaxy from a cold, bleak future. “Alright, Jelly. Let's bring back the heat!” With a newfound determination, Deb sets her sights on her inaugural destination and prepares for her epic journey.

Chapter #4: Jump Number Journey[edit]

The journal will present the jumps in order of the area visited. The newest area will have one paragraph. Once you have caught the boss fish for that area, you will see two paragraphs.

These are ones reported by wranglers so far:

Jump #X: PlanetVenus - The Sultry Paradise[edit]

Upon arrival at PlanetVenus, the heat intensifies. The PlanetVenus Fish, nicknamed the “Hot Stuff,” welcomes her with a challenging stare. Deb couldn’t help but chuckle at the sight of the UFO Turtle, serving as the universe’s cosmic Wi-Fi hotspot. The Spacecholoship, with its unmistakable swagger, keeps the atmosphere lively. The Acid Rain Eel, sheltering under a tiny umbrella, almost makes her forget the danger lurking with the Shrimplien Gamer. She adjusts her hat, a grin of determination on her face. Let the games begin!

Upon touchdown at PlanetVenus, Deb encounters the Planet Venus Boss Fish. It reminds her of her rigorous hot yoga sessions, which always left her breathless and drenched in sweat. With a spirited nod to her favorite spicy food, Deb faces the heat and triumphs in capturing the fish.

Jump #X: PlanetEarth - Home, Sweet Home?[edit]

Arriving at PlanetEarth, a wave of nostalgia hits Deb. But her homecoming isn't as peaceful as she had imagined. The PlanetEarth Fish, unpredictable and wild, reminds her that she’s in for quite a ride. Spotting the Planet Eater, Deb can't help but chuckle at the sight of the fish with a spoon, ready to take on PlanetEarth. The Space Scout Shark, Cheddar Moon Fish, and the Space Holiwhale all add a touch of humor to the situation, a perfect mix of the strange and familiar. She dusts off her fishing gear - there's no place like home for a challenge!

Deb's antics with the Planet Earth Boss Fish are laughably entertaining. Casting herself as a seasoned secret agent, Deb's approach is more like a comic strip character as she navigates through intricate security setups, managing to succeed more by chance than design.

Jump #X: PlanetMars - The Crimson Riddle[edit]

Stepping on PlanetMars, the red landscape takes her breath away. The Martian Cow Fish, an unexpected sight, seems as confused to be on PlanetMars as Deb is amused. Mars Attacks and Joan of Mars, with their intimidating presence, remind her that this is not a sightseeing tour. But Deb can't help but giggle at the thought of the Martian Cow Fish debating its existential questions. PlanetMars, you are indeed a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma.

Deb confronts the Planet Mars Boss Fish, as mischievous as her grandkids during a Thanksgiving gathering. Channeling her inner matriarch, Deb manages to tame them using an unusual approach resembling an ancient knitting technique. With this trick, she catches the boss fish and ensures the safety of the planet.

Jump #X: PlanetMercury - The Blue Bastion[edit]

As Deb steps foot on PlanetMercury, she feels the planet's blistering heat, a stark contrast from her chilly Pluto adventure. She quickly spots the PlanetMercury Fish, small but faster than any fish she has encountered before. Deb remembers the Stanglerk Spock, MexicUFO, and Spacebox, each with their distinct personalities and fighting styles. As she prepares for the interplanetary battle, she looks over at the Genius Diablien Shark. It's going to be one heated fishing experience.

Deb's skills are put to the test by the Mercury Boss Fish, reminiscent of the time she grappled with setting up her new smartphone. After a series of comically failed attempts, she finally manages to catch the elusive creature. Just as the Mercury Boss Fish is secured, it darts away, revealing the path towards the next adventure. Deb can't help but laugh, realizing she's just managed to catch one of the fastest fish in the cosmos!

Jump #X: PlanetJupiter - The Galactic Circus[edit]

Touching down on PlanetJupiter, Deb can't help but laugh at the sight of the jovial PlanetJupiter Fish, its loud personality filling the vast space. The Multi-Task Alien Fish, working at breakneck speed, makes her chuckle. Spotting the Arcadlien Turtle spitting out vintage arcade coins and the Electric Crab looking sinister, Deb knows she’s in for a wild ride on this clownish planet. She makes a mental note, “Welcome to the Galactic Circus.”

Deb reels in the massive Planet Jupiter Boss Fish, nearly toppling over. Recovering amidst the moon-shaped houses, she laughs, reminiscing about her stargazing nights. “Who knew those tiny white specks could be so heavy?” she chuckles, shaking her head. “If Aunt Patty could see me now, she'd swap her knitting needles for a space rod!” Space fishing, Deb concludes, beats any day in Roperia.

Jump #X: PlanetSaturn - The Ringed Hilarity[edit]

As Deb lands on PlanetSaturn, she is met with the sight of the Saturn Fish giggling, spinning hula hoops around its body. Her amusement grows when she encounters the Evoluted Gentlalien Fish, moonwalking in space while sipping hot tea, a sight to behold. Suddenly, a loud “cluck” startles her. Turning, she spots a rubber chicken floating nearby, no doubt the work of the mischievous Fairy Strangler. What a riot this ringed planet is!

Victoriously, Deb hauls in the majestic Planet Saturn Boss Fish, its scales sparkling like stardust. She grins widely at its unique pattern, a vibrant echo of Saturn's rings. Her cousin Ricky's wild theory springs to mind. “Well, Ricky, your crazy theory was right,” she chuckles, clutching her prized catch, “Saturn's rings aren't geological formations, they're energy trails left by this lightning-fast behemoth!” She gives a triumphant laugh, the surrealness of Ricky's theory being true making her victory all the more delicious.

Jump #X: PlanetUranus - The Cosmic Comedy[edit]

Arriving on PlanetUranus, Deb's first sight is the Uranus Fish strumming a toilet paper guitar, an oddball indeed. Seeing the Jelly Controllien orchestrating chaos and the quirky Space Junk fish floating aimlessly, she can't suppress her laughter. As the Mr. Ugliest Universe comes into view, Deb raises her hat in silent salute to the fish's embrace of uniqueness. She smiles, “Time for some cosmic comedy, Uranus style!”

Jump #X: PlanetNeptune - The Final Lap?[edit]

PlanetNeptune, the last stop in the solar system, or is it? The PlanetNeptune Fish, with its deep blue glow and icy demeanor, gives her a chilly welcome. She spots the curious Froglien Foot Fish, wearing his top hat and monocle, adding a dash of absurdity to the planet's icy environment. The other fish, including the Rocking Horse Fish and the Petalien Fish, bring a fitting blend of the bizarre and whimsical to this last frontier. As she readies her fishing gear, she wonders, “Is this the final lap or the beginning of a new journey?”

With a triumphant grin, Deb reels in the Planet Neptune Boss Fish, a jester known for causing storms with its laughter. She'd been almost swept away by a turbulent current, but Jelly's clever Trident Anchor kept her grounded. The jester fish, lost in its own humor, was an easier catch than expected. “Guess the joke's on you now!” she laughs, holding up her latest cosmic catch with pride.

Jump #X: DwaftPlanet - The Icy Frontier[edit]

Deb meets the small but fiery DwaftPlanet Fish, vowing revenge on those who demoted it. The Camouflaged Spylien, hardly noticeable, surveys the area with his telescope. The Space Fridge Turtle, a marvel of chance, radiates a chilling, otherworldly aura. The sight of the densely packed Dwarfinators and the frantic Zero Gravity Guppy makes Deb laugh. “DwaftPlanet, the realm of forgotten misfits,” she muses.

The Planet Pluto Boss Fish's rebellious attitude stirs memories of Deb's rebellious teenage years. With an attempt to connect, she pulls out a dusty old rock CD from her bag. To her surprise, it terrifies the fish. It scurries off, revealing the path to the final challenge.

Chapter #5: The Solar Showdown[edit]

After defeating the bosses on the Planet islands, travel to InvictuSol.

Journal entry:

After mastering the previous 9 planets and their Boss Fish, Deb steps onto the searing stage for the biggest face-off yet. Sweat dripping, she bravely announces, “Goodness, it's hotter than a goat's butt in a pepper patch out here!” She's ready to face the Sun Boss Fish, the blazing chief of the Asteroid Belt. The Sun Boss Fish, with its enormous heat and power, used to maintain the cosmic balance. Lately though, it's been acting out, stirring up mayhem among the celestial residents. The harmony of the Asteroid Belt, and Roperia's weather, hangs in the balance. Deb's mission: to rein in the fiery fish and restore order.

select: Begin Solar Showdown

The once orderly dance of celestial bodies is now a chaotic whirl, with planets and asteroids veering off course. The cause? The Sun Boss Fish's uncontrolled power and fury. As the seasoned cosmic angler, you stand as the last hope. With courage, wit, and a hearty laugh, it's your task to subdue this blazing chief and restore balance to the Asteroid Belt. Stand your ground, cast your line, and bring back tranquility to the cosmos. This is your moment.

Chapter #6: A Wandering Star's Heroic Homecoming[edit]

Catch and reel in the Planet Sun Fish boss at InvictuSol.

Facing the Sun Boss Fish's scorching fury, Deb stands her ground. It unleashes solar flares, reflecting the fiery seriousness of this cosmic showdown. Yet Deb, fearless and ever ready with a quip, shoots back, “Got a bit of a hot temper, huh?” Each dodge of a flare comes with a wisecrack, adding a lighthearted spark to the fiery encounter. With each fiery assault, Deb skillfully maneuvers, quipping, “I guess it's sundown for you!” She ultimately captures the Sun Boss Fish, averting a cosmic calamity, and proving that laughter indeed is the best weapon. As she breathes a sigh of relief, she can't help but think, “Well, that's one hot mess sorted out!” Triumphant and radiant as a supernova, Deb returns to Roperia, having restored the balance of the Asteroid Belt. She faced down the Sun Boss Fish's fiery fury, and with her determination, quick wit, and infectious humor, managed to pull it back from the brink of chaos. Her laughter, it seemed, was the antidote to its destructive anger. The planets align perfectly, as if standing in ovation for the champion who had, with a fishing pole, a hearty laugh, and a relentless spirit, returned the Sun Boss Fish to its senses. The Asteroid Belt was safe, and warmth had returned to the cosmos. Deb, amidst hearty cheers and clapping, can't resist a little jest upon receiving a medal worth 1,000,000 silver “I hope this medal isn't a reformed part of the Space Junk Fish... It's not still radioactive, is it? I mean, I always wanted to have a 'glowing' personality, but this isn't exactly what I had in mind!” The room erupts into laughter, with even the most serious of agents unable to resist a grin. As the laughter and applause wane, the Agency offers her a full-time position. Deb, a wanderer at heart, gently declines. “I'm more of a shooting star,” she says, smiling, “always passing by but never settling.” She promises to be there should the galaxy ever need her unique brand of fish-wrangling again. With a heart full of contentment and a spirit invigorated by her cosmic adventure, Deb returns to her peaceful life. Every so often, she looks up at the night sky. The stars seem to twinkle back, whispering tales of future adventures and the next big catch.
