Chapter 16: The Eye of the Storm[edit]

The Alcatraz being washed out of the eye by a huge wave.

Premise[edit]

  • Wranglers must travel to the Eye of the Storm and purchase the final add-on for their respective pole (costing 800,000 Gold). Upon doing so, they must keep casting to get their bearings in the rough water, which will continuously move them away from the center of the storm's eye.
  • After a few casts, wranglers will find themselves predictably thrown out of the eye by a huge wave. Being washed out by a wave will cause definitive Gold loss, but ensure chances to find a piece of some old Farovian treasure. This first wash-out will also unfortunately wash Stu away, not to be found again until much later.

Requirements[edit]

  • At this point, wranglers must visit Mousso for help, heading back to Doom Island and checking in on Mousso's Beach Hut.

Notes[edit]

  • Wranglers are advised to ensure they read all the story chapters[1] properly; any clues necessary will be available there.

Chapter 17: Communication is Key[edit]

Mousso's Fourth Task

Premise[edit]

  • Upon reaching Mousso's Beach Hut, Wranglers will be informed by him that the storm and its eye remain constantly moving around; not staying in the center of the eye would result in them being washed out by the waves of the powerful storm. To that end, Mousso provides Wranglers with their fourth task: getting him what he needs to build a Personal Storm Radar system.

Requirements[edit]

Rewards[edit]

  • The Personal Storm Radar system, enabling real-time updates on the storm's conditions and the eye's location.
    • Upon the capture of the 40th Communication Crab, wranglers will be able to place an order for the Radar back at Mousso's Beach Hut; obtaining it will take four days from the time of ordering it. With this Radar, wranglers will be able to see (in real-time) how far in they are from the center of the eye (with 75 metres usually indicating HIGH RISK). At this point, clicking on the Risk Level will automatically re-position them back to the center of the eye.

Notes[edit]

  • While fishing in the Eye of the Storm, wranglers must keep checking how far they are from the eye (listed next to the location name on the top bar). As wranglers make catches, they will drift further and further from the storm's eye, denoted gradually by the Risk Level; when the level is HIGH RISK, any attempts to cast will result in them being washed away by a big wave.
    • Note: As mentioned in the above Chapter 16, each time wranglers get washed away, they will definitively lose Gold, but also get a chance of finding a collectable from the Ten-Year Storm Collection. The Ten-Year Storm Collection can be handed in once and once only. Wranglers who prefer to not run out are encouraged to not hand the very first set in and keep collecting more collectables.
  • To avoid getting washed away (either because they have the collectables or are low on Gold), Wranglers must travel back to Stormy Straight to read the current weather radar from the local buoy to see where exactly the eye is; the radar will automatically be read upon arrival without any manual input by the wrangler.
    • Wranglers wishing to be washed away for collectables can commence travel to Stormy Straight and then instantly turn around, most likely pushing them to HIGH RISK.

Chapter 18: Pirates Ahoy[edit]

Stu is captured.

Premise[edit]

  • Upon placing the order and waiting 4 days, the Personal Storm Radar will be accessible from Mousso. As mentioned in Chapter 17, the Radar will allow one to see the weather forecast in real-time and instantly re-position their boat back into the eye as needed. On the other hand, Mousso informs the wrangler of some bad news: Stu has been taken captive by pirates and ransoming the pirates for his freedom will require wranglers to perform some tasks, listed below.

Requirements[edit]

  1. Catch 1 Sea Trinicorn Fish at the Eye of the Storm.
  2. Catch the Pirate's lost parrot, available at Doom Island (Wranglers must watch for any clue that might make capture easier or their net more difficult for the parrot to spot).
  3. Recover the Captain's wooden leg lost while being swept away. This will require wranglers to drink the Tarpit Stouts (approximately 7 of them) until they pass out. Upon success, they will be notified that they should wash themselves away in the eye.
  4. Retrieve the barrel of rum from Sass over at Stormy Straight. Due to the wrangler no longer giving her water, she has become extremely thirsty and now wants their Tarpit Stouts. Wranglers must provide her the required Stouts (again, approximately 7 of them) until she's satisfied.

Notes[edit]

  • Wranglers can do these tasks in any order and check them and/or the relevant progress by viewing them at Mousso's Beach Hut. Upon fulfilling all four requirements, wranglers must exchange them with the pirates in return for Stu, hoping they hold up their end of the bargain.
    • To complete, wranglers must click the button to Exchange the items for Stu!, leading to the next chapter.

Chapter 19: Stu is Safe[edit]

Stu is released by the pirates.

Premise[edit]

  • Upon collecting all the items for the pirates, the ransom can now be handed over to them in exchange for Stu's release. While wranglers have doubts about the pirates, they do seem to keep their word and release him back to the wranglers' Alcatraz. Unfortunately, while Stu may have been rescued, his sail-boat and the treasure map remain missing, with Stu insisting that they must be found. To that end, he discloses the location of his boat, explaining that the it is being guarded by some Reigning Deities and they will need to be battled with and defeated to get to the boat.

Requirements[edit]

Rewards[edit]

  • Access to Stu's Boat (hopefully before the pirates).

Notes[edit]

  • The Reigning Deity is Possibly Extinct and will be a significant challenge to catch. To make things easier, 3 Reigning Deities are required for the very final quests of each of the three poles available throughout the Ten-Year Storm, listed below.

Poles Nail Fly Palm Spear Kelp Net
Quests Tricorn Tiramisu Jubilant Jelly Fatty Fudge

  • Wranglers are advised to use Quest Boosts (10X and above) to catch the Reigning Deities while doing the above quests. As a bonus, finishing these quests will also ensure they can finally commence the Super-Bonus Quest for the Ten-Year Storm and be one step closer to completing the storm itself.

Chapter 20: The Storm Strikes[edit]

Lighting setting fire to the pirates and Stu's boats.
  • Having battled the Reigning Deities and removed them from guarding Stu's boat, wranglers and Sailor Stu will finally head out of the storm, only to see pirates catching up to and boarding Stu's boat. While the pirates trash Stu's boat and Stu is almost in tears over losing everything, a freak bolt of lightning strikes both the boats, setting fire to them and sinking them permanently to the depths of the ocean. Expecting Stu to despair and be devastated by the loss of everything, the wranglers turn to him to see a gleam in his eyes, hinting at the one and only way through this problem: Scuba-diving, exploring the wreckage of ships, not just of the pirates and Stu's own, but plenty others from past explorers unfortunate enough to be drowned by the powerful storm!
  • At this point, Wranglers will finally unlock the story of Shipwreck Explorer, leaving the raging storm behind.
