Once you get the Broken Standard pole up to Stealth level 25 and catch the [[Brain Sturgeon Fish]] then you can start unlocking the Fancy Rifle-pole stealth modification.  The cost to do the modification starts off at 10 million gold - 20k??? less per hour, with the timer starting at when you visit Earl.<ref name="post359"/> It eventually settles at 4,000??? gold.

Originally the timer started when you visited Earl,<ref name="post359"/> but now that it's been over 30 days since the original release, you will likely only have to pay the settled value of 1,000 gold.
